Been away for awhile. Caught up on project, hanging out and stoning as per usual. Had been neglecting Bud for the longest time ever, shall see you soon! Heehe. Sadly there’s no much anticipated movies in the month of December. Caught these in the past week and was pretty discontented though…

If you think ‘Twilight’ is crap, a total miserable delivery, wait for it wait for it… … ‘New Moon’ is EPICALLY BAD I find it almost hilarious. I swore to myself that I would enter the theatre with zero amount of brain cells, just to catch the next big over hyped romantic-vampires-werewolves-boys-topless movie, and even that didn’t help. They made ‘bad’ seem so effortless, you have to actually catch it to experience this “saga”. No joke.

Never would I thought Renée Zellweger could act in a horror film given her Bridget Jones background. And…why am I not surprise, ‘Case 39′ was nowhere scary. This was one of those horror films that cause you to jump in your seat – not by terrifying scenes in the plot, but from the silly loud sound effect. And in very rare circumstances, I found myself didn’t exactly express much interest for the lead actress Renée, on whether or not she’d be killed in the ending. Almost predictable storyline but I find the young actress who played the evil child extremely convincing and well, she stole the spotlight.

Hilarious at times, but so-so overall. A smart move the writers made, shot in Bora Bora, such exotic beautiful island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean made me await and fantasize the day I will eventually be on the beach resort. If it was not for the dreamy scenery, I was hoping that the movie would end faster. No doubt there were a few crude-sexual-funny scenes that I laughed my head off to, but that’s about it. Also, the ending was bloody draggy I thought. We didn’t pay 10 bucks to see FOUR DIFFERENT COUPLES talk, talk, talk and talk and then make up to each other. I like Vince Vaughn but he isn’t exactly a good screenwriter.

Weather had been freezing-ly mean.
No anticipated movies out anytime soon.
I don’t have the slightest sense of urgency for my projects.
Anyway, caught these 2 earlier last week.

I went in expecting pretty much from ‘Paranormal Activity’ since the movie received extremely well reviews and recognition. No doubt there were a few scenes which got me covering my eyes and the friend next to me to “Aiyo!!!” loudly in the almost empty theatre, but have to say, it was definitely an over-hyped horror film. Acting/Plot wasn’t that bad but neither was it good. They said “Nightmares are guaranteed.” but I’m hardly even affected. One good thing I’ve learned from Paranormal? Don’t be so egoistic.

Another movie I was looking forward to. Since it was director Roland Emmerich’s last catastrophe film, and about the ‘rumored’ 2012, I kinda expect the best actors for the roles, mind blowing CGI, intense, dramatic, over-the-top, ultimate destruction…but I felt the delivery was extremely unconvincing. It was just plain screaming, stretched-scared facial expressions, loud voices and some tears. This is the “one-man-hero” kind of movie where the lead actor miraculously escaped death not once, not twice, not thrice, lost count!, in every possible disastrous scene, making it look predictable. Wasted precious minutes showing two absurd people who had just lost their fathers, falling in love with each other, exchanging cheesy goofy flirting lines. Not impactful for the end-of-the-world movie!

There’s a reason why these ads remain vintage.
I call this the “diet flu period” where more than 20 people around me are trying to lose weight. Oh, what a beautiful skinny world.
